RectorSeal® Corp., Houston,  a leading manufacturer of quality HVAC/R products, introduces the Safe-T-Switch® Models SS103E and SS500EP condensate overflow shutoff switches featuring electronic probe sensors and an onboard LED display provide the industry’s most reliable operation, water damage protection, diagnostics and monitoring of commercial and residential air-conditioning systems and their condensate drains.

The SS103E is the next generation of condensate overflow prevention because it combines the functionality of Safe-T-Switch’s renowned Model SS1’s horizontal or vertical installation options with the Model SS3’s clip-on installation for primary or auxiliary drain pan edges. The result is one overflow switch that’s designed for the primary drain line and auxiliary drain pan or the auxiliary drain outlet and auxiliary drain pan of A/C systems. The SS103E is compatible with all A/C brands, offers the flexibility of vertical, horizontal or in-line installation, and also includes a 3/4-inch adapter, bushing and cap. The SS500EP also features the new electronic sensor probe and LED indicator and is UL-2043 plenum-rated, which offers the most compact water shutoff device for commercial down-flow rooftop units.

Both patented switches’ microelectronics logic circuits continuously sample via dual-sensor probes and determine whether moisture presence is transient or permanent, the latter which shuts down the system and sounds an alarm. The high-tech LED displays for the SS103E and SS500EP expedite on-site diagnostics with three LED-colored lights 1) Red–unit is shutdown; 2) Yellow–a shutdown event occurred within four days; and 3) Green–no shutdown occurrence.

Unlike other overflow shutoff switch brands, the SS103E’s removable cap allows easy access for contaminant cleaning and chemical treatments.

The SS103E and SS500EP features also include:

  • UL-508 listing and compliance with the International Mechanical Code’s shutoff switch mandates.
  • Improved electric carrying capacity to 5-amps, along with a simple 24-V, 18-AWG, two-wire design hook-up.
  • Reduction of false alarm events common among other brands.
  • Provided clip-on electronic probe for the SS103E offers optional extra protection when installed on the edge of primary or auxiliary pans.
  • The original concept of the Safe-T-Switch line was designed by a contractor for contractors.
  • Solid CPVC construction and a two-year warranty

CLEAN CHECK® INTRODUCES THE HIGHEST PSI RATED FLAPPER AVAILABLE

HOUSTON, TX – The RectorSeal Corporation, a Houston-based manufacturer of specialty chemical products and tools for the professional trades, has improved the innovative extendable backwater valve by adding a patented, heavy duty 75 psi rated flapper at 100 ft of head. This flapper exceeds ASME test standards, IPC and UPC IAPMO plumbing codes minimum requirements.

A simple, low cost solution – Clean Check® valves prevent sewage backups resulting from plugged or flooded municipal sewer system lines. They are designed to be installed easily outside a home, business or other structure, without using a costly manhole, and are readily accessible for maintenance or cleaning.  The extendable valves consist of a tee-shaped valve body, a top and bottom collar, and a replaceable 75 psi PVC flapper. In the event of back-pressure, the flapper blocks the reverse flow preventing sewage from entering into the structure. The new flapper will withstand pressure of 75 psi at 100 ft. of head. Clean Check® valves are available in ABS and PVC and in multiple sizes, to meet the needs of most residential and commercial construction. The heavy duty flapper exceeds industry standards, and has proven to save money for homeowners, builders and municipalities.

NOKORODE® Aqua Flux™ – Technical Bulletin

December 27, 2010 – Technical Bulletin

A recent law specifying new lead content requirements for plumbing products has been added to California’s Health and Safety Code (section 116875; commonly known as AB1953) which went into effect January 1, 2010. After this date, any pipe, fitting or fixture intended to be in contact with potable water which is used for human consumption through drinking or cooking must meet an average lead content by weight of less than 0.25%. The requirement of this law was incorporated as an Annex into the American National Standard for Health Effects of Drinking Water System Components NSF/ANSI Standard 61.

As a result, manufacturers of alloys have developed a series of new low lead formulations which they are supplying to the companies who manufacture products affected by this new legislation.

One of the copper alloys which meets the new low lead content requirement is Eco Brass® used by NIBCO and other manufacturers.

Based on recent laboratory testing Nokorode® Aqua Flux is not suitable for use with Eco Brass®.

Our Technical department is working on a new product to address this issue and we will keep you informed on our progress.

RectorSeal Smoke and Acoustic Sealant prevents the spread of smoke and sound

December 1, 2010 – HOUSTON, TX – Rectorseal®, a leading manufacturer of firestop products and mechanical devices for professional contractors, announces the addition of a new Smoke and Acoustic Sealant for use in smoke and sound rated assemblies. This acrylic, latex sealant provides a seal for penetrations and membrane openings, and allows for static or dynamic movement.

Changes to the building code have increased the requirement for Smoke Partition Wall Assemblies, which are designed to restrict the movement of smoke within a building. All joints and through penetrations are now required to have a low air leakage rate (L-rating) in these smoke partitions. Through excessive testing RectorSeal has developed a Smoke and Acoustic Sealant to maintain the smoke characteristics as required by the changes to the codes.

RectorSeal® Smoke and Acoustic Sealant provides excellent sound attenuation characteristics in accordance with ASTM E90, and reduces the movement of smoke and airborne particles as demonstrated in air leakage testing modified UL 1479 and modified UL 2079. RectorSeal® Smoke and Acoustic Sealant is available in Caulk and Spray grade and is easily applied by caulking gun, trowel, spray or brush and cleans up with soap and water. RectorSeal® Smoke and Acoustic Sealant is used in vertical and horizontal non-fire rated assemblies to prevent the passage of smoke and sound.

RectorSeal® Smoke and Acoustic Sealant has been tested in accordance to the following standards: ASTM E84, ASTM E90, ASTM E1399, and tested for air leakage in accordance to modified UL 1479 and modified UL 2079. RectorSeal® Smoke and Acoustic Sealant’s STC rating of 69 is the highest in the market and helps achieve and maintain the STC value of the system designed. This sealant is low in VOC content and meets LEED criteria established under the Environmental Air Quality and Regional Materials. RectorSeal® Smoke and Acoustic Sealant is now available through Rectorseal®’s nationwide network of distributors or by calling Customer Service at 1-800-231-3345.
